The University of Tunis El Manar (UTM), through its renowned Water Treatment and Desalination Laboratory, specializes in low-tech, renewable solutions such as SODIS and microfiltration. Its expertise is vital for scalable applications in semi-arid and remote regions, where sustainable water management is critical. Closely connected with local organizations and farming communities, UTM bridges research with real-world needs. It coordinates the development of PDI-SODIS, designs photovoltaic-powered desalination systems, and integrates them with AOPs. UTM also contributes to effluent characterization, microbial culture selection, modular treatment system design, and leads the WP of dissemination, exploitation, and communication.
